Could the NDP government’s mighty media machine be losing power? Their handling of the Hydro transmission line issue has been dismal to say the least. Here’s the latest from CBC:
Costs of power line route will rise: Hydro CEO
In a nutshell, Hydro CEO Bob Brennan admits the amount of lost power due to building the extra-long line in Western Manitoba will be “much more” than what Doer and company have been saying. He adds a “for sure” in there for good measure.
I certainly appreciate the man’s candor, but I can’t imagine the province is equally enthused. How is it they were able to force the man to spend an extra $500 million [$1 billion? $1.5 billion??] to build this line where it doesn’t belong, yet they can’t get him to stick to the speaking points or arrange for a decent flack to handle the media?

It has occurred to me, although doubtful, that perhaps Doer is a strategic genius. He’s bluffing with the west side route, to gain leverage in the negotiations with the First Nations communities on the east side. Or maybe not … In any case, I hope this colossal waste of tax payer money stays in the news until Doer reconsiders. Keep it up, Brennan.
