The print ad below is from the UK’s National Rail, promoting the minimal environmental impact of their service. Wouldn’t it be nice to see a similar ad from Manitoba Hydro in the near future, highlighting the minimal impact that an EAST SIDE transmission line has on the surrounding boreal forest? Let’s hope that Mr. Doer resolves to remove his head from his ass on this issue in 2008. Happy New Year y’all!

Scale is always a question, cannot tell from the ad what the width of rail right of way is.
Manitoba Hydro ‘reserves’ for corridors on the east side can be as wide as 2 kilometers. And the discussion about the DC bi pole III is being conducted without an energy plan for the province, without full information as to future corridors which will be required.
