Why are photo editors such tools?

There had to be thousands of photos taken of Hillary Clinton last night as she celebrated her win in the New Hampshire primary, yet I’ve seen the photo below in at least six different papers today, including page A3 of the Winnipeg Free Press.

Sure, it’s a goofy picture, but it’s hardly representative of her evening. Instead, it’s some tool of a photo editor’s idea of funny. And while it’s certainly funnier than anything that alleged humour columnist Doug Speirs has ever produced, if I wanted (intentional) humour I’d pick up something other than the local rag.

This juvenile crap happens all the time with political figures and celebrities. While I’ve come to expect it from US Magazine and hard-core ideological blogs, is it too much to expect a little more maturity from the mainstream print media? Hell, I don’t even really like the woman and I still find the photo games idiotic.
