So the Richardson and Asper families have each donated $500,000 to the idiotic plan to build an empty heritage park at the old Upper Fort Garry site. Big freakin’ deal.
According to the most recent edition of The Rich 100, the net worth of the Richardson clan is $2 billion. The Aspers have slipped a bit [...]

Heard a clip of the Premier on ‘OB this morning saying he didn’t really believe that Obama or Clinton would reopen NAFTA if elected. “It may be good local politics, but it’s bad economics,” he said. How the man wasn’t struck by lightning immediately afterwards is beyond me. Isn’t his whole government based on local [...]

One thing that’s always bothered me when discussion of “Spirited Energy” comes up is when people simply respond with “what was wrong with Friendly Manitoba?”
Look, I think “Friendly Manitoba” is a perfectly quaint little slogan that makes us feel good about ourselves and looks nice on a license plate, but I’d be just as down [...]

At the suggestion of Michael Tyas, I followed my own advice and set up a “Province of Manitoba” page on Facebook. For some odd reason it wouldn’t let me just set up a “Manitoba” page.
Anyway, let’s show the Spirited Energy crowd we don’t need their fancy ad campaigns to promote the province. Become a “fan” [...]

So let’s get this straight, the same group of dimwits that came up with (and in some cases, starred in) the Spirited Energy campaign want a new mandate and more funding to come up with another pointless branding campaign for our province?
I say pointless, because I don’t think we’ll ever cobble together enough money to [...]

Sometimes I wonder if the collective brain power at City Hall could power a very, very dim light bulb. Even one of those compact fluorescents.
News today that Councillor Dan Vandal has the support of six other councillors in his bid to derail new downtown residential development in favour of a government subsidized collection of [...]

I assume this is just a case of the headline being cut off, but I think the CJOB web editors have stumbled upon a killer new band name:

Listened to a bit of the chatter on ‘OB this morning about the “Feel Tha Heat” (FTH) event that took place at the Sonar nightclub over the weekend.
I’ll leave it to the event organizer and club owner to sort out who was responsible for the general disorganization and security troubles, but I do have to [...]

On the off chance a random journalist from Adelaide might be doing background research on Premier Gary Doer prior to his keynote address to the International Solar Cities Congress, allow me to point you to some valid questions about Mr. Doer’s green credentials, as posed by a member of our local media.
A few additional question [...]

As I suspected, the new Canada Post facility will be built next to the airport. I only hope the City is on the ball enough to make the required transportation upgrades to accommodate the additional 600 staff and 500-odd delivery vehicles that will be moving up and down Route 90 by 2010.
Surely this route must [...]
