Are there any members of the Conservative Party who are actually working today? Given the volume of blog posts, blog comments, rigged online polls and calls to radio stations about the proposed coalition government, I’d say no. We’re going to need an economic stimulus package just to recover from the business productivity decline caused by Conservative PR efforts.
On the positive side, if the PM is successful in playing hide-and-seek with Parliament (proroguing) until January then the ailing media sector should get a nice boost in ad revenue as both sides battle for the title of “least objectionable” in the eyes of the Canadian public.

yeah, it’s pretty disgusting what’s going on. I sure hope there’s no prorogue & that the G-G lets the coalition have a go — another two months of this divisive rhetoric about separatists & socialists & banana republics will be a disaster not only for productivity & the markets, but also everyone’s mental health & esp. national unity. Do the Cons really think (full stop)… that demonizing the BQ & by extension most of the voters of QC will do anything to help there long-term fortunes? More likely, not only will it cement their inability to get a majority, but it will also galvanize the younger generations in QC that until now weren’t that interested in separatism. Plus it’s hugely hypocritical, ‘cuz at the same time, many of those being most outspoken on what an ‘Unholy Alliance’ this is are also the orig. hardcore Reform/Alliance types & are complaining about how the Toronto factions are usurping ‘their’ proper Western Cndn. gov’t which has at last had its day, & some are musing aloud again about Alberta separating.
And if there is another snap election in the midst of this poisonous environment, most or all of the customary Liberal voters who switched or declined to vote in the last couple of elections (cuz of Sponsorgate/ arrogance first, then cuz of Dion/Green Shift) are going to come back to the fold. The Reformers who first got gleeful at the prospect of the political finance reforms killing the Lib’s, and then got indignant when that backfired & resulted in this ‘coup,’ don’t seem to get that a whole lot of voters weren’t electing the Conservatives so much as just not electing the Liberals for the full four years we thought they deserved in the penalty box (esp. if they were gonna run on some weird new energy tax scheme which sounded like it’d cost us a lot of money at a time when gas prices were doubling). Now that the Green Shift’s off the table & Iggy’s on the way in, and it’s clear that the Con’s _are_ scary (& indifferent & not even that fiscally resp.), I think the Lib’s could very well win a Jan or Feb election if they expedited the leadership change.
Speaking of the media, tho’, I’m disappointed with the bitchy tone of CBC Newsworld today, featuring crabby man-on-the-street soundbites and a scolding stance from some of the newsreaders. Again, most everyone quoted doesn’t understand that ths is allowed in our political, and although I suppose they’re just trying to be balanced, the CBC seems to be forgetting that although they escaped it this time, they’re in the CPC’s sights to get chopped down to size, too.
I’m sick of hearing about it to be honest with you.
Now imagine two months of it after the prorogue. LOL
Seen on another blog, worth stealing:
“Coalitions.
With separatists.
In our cities.
In Canada.
We’re not making this up.”
Automated Conservative Robots are turning web to make a safety net.
turning (to the) web to…..sorry
Watch out, donald, you’re starting to speak in Bot.
Made a huge mistake yesterday afternoon – I put CJOB’s Adler show on for about an hour. While I can respect those with differing political opinions from my own – what I cannot abide is inflammatory insults borne of ignorance. Adler’s show, ever full of US styled the Limbaughism’s, was utterly devoid balance. Worse, his like-minded base kept flaunting their utter ignorance of the provisions within a parliamentary system that legitimately allow for the formation of a coalition government. While it one thing to egg on the ignorant, it is entirely another to give them an unchallenged platform upon which they can continue to disseminate untruths that have no basis on fact.
Adler needs to be held accountable – when people spout Tory mantra’s that are factually incorrect . It should be incumbent on him to (at the very least) point out the error…. but, ahh, here I am, dreaming in technicolour yet again.
Alas, after an hour I was so nauseated that I called into CJOB to challenge some of the constitutional untruths that were being propagated. Only to be told by the switchboard gatekeeper that Adler was uninterested this day in “debating” callers on air who differed with him. Pity, guess I’ll have to start looking for him on the street to engage. Of course, he will probably tell my lumbering 280lb ass he hasn’t the time then either. Coward.
Add to your list of things the conservatives are doing instead of working; talking to people face to face.
Between my work place and my wife’s we have talked to 40+ people (Winnipegers of course), and have yet to hear anyone support the coalition. Everyone see’s it as a powergrab. Damn conservatives have been busy…the scoundrels!!
